The essay that I will be choosing for my last paper is called Pursuing Social Change Online The Use of Four Protest Tactics on the Internet.  This article is written by Jennifer Earl from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  This article is about how the internet is useful to today’s society.  The article first starts talking about the uses of petitions.  Instead of only being able to go around your neighborhood, you are able to go around the entire globe and collect signatures due to the advancement of the internet.  They also start talking about the way the internet allows people to tell others to boycott a company.  Having the internet allows people to read why they want they want you to boycott that company and try to get you to boycott them.  The internet is a very useful tool.  The reason that I am choosing this essay is because I thought it was very interesting to read.  I really liked how they started out talking about the the online petitions.  I think that was a very good way to start off the article.  It showed the internet is a very useful tool right off the bat.  Jennifer Earl didn’t waste anytime getting into the the article.  Then she starts talking about the boycotting of companies.  She really starts off this article strong and I think that is the main reason why I am choosing this as my essay that I will be incorporating in my last paper.  I would consider this article an acceptable source.  The reason why I think this is an acceptable source is due to the publication company.  Sage Publications is a very reputable.  It has been been around since 1965.  Another reason why I think that this source is acceptable is because the URL is a .org.  The .org means that it is a non for profit organization.  Having a .com means that you are a commercial business.  Being a .org I think would be a more acceptable source.
