Learning how I learn was the best thing I have ever learned.  What I learned from answering those questions in class is that I can not learn when someone is just talking to me.  Auditory learning is very difficult for me.  I am more of a visual/ hands on learner.  When I see something being done I can kind of understand what is going, then when it gets down to the time when I get to do the thing that I was just learning about I understand the topic completely.  The way I found out about the learning style that fits me best came in multiple ways.  One was the survey that we took in class.  It would me that I was a bad auditory learning and was a better Hands on and visual learner.  Another way that I found out was by actually experiencing it in life.  When my dad needs me to do something and he just says it to me and if I haven’t done it before I ask him, what am I supposed to do.  When that happens he visually shows me what I need to then I learn how to do that and the next he asks me to do something like that I know what I am doing.  Being able to know how you learn will help you greatly in life.

This is the first time I really looked into what kind of personality I have.  I never thought to look at it.  I think it was pretty cool the results that I received back.  When I did the personality type quiz in class I got the entertainer personality type.  I don’t think that is very accurate.  It says in the definition that you are someone to be found spontaneously breaking into song and dance.  I don’t like singing and dancing when people are around.  I am not a selfish person and I am not insecure about myself.  So I was a little confused about that.  But, as an entertainer you are very encouraging.  I believe that I am a very encouraging person.  That will help with my major.  Being an Applied Exercise Science major you have to be very encouraging.  With this major you can become a strength and conditioning coach.

With the emotional intelligence test that we completed in class it surprised me.  My emotional intelligence was in the category from 35-55.  I think I have good relationships with everyone that I work with.  But, if there is that one person that bothers me I would never let my personal life get in the way of a patient’s well being.  I believe when working with others that I communicate very well with them.  That is very important when you are in the healthcare field.  You need to be able to cooperate with everyone of your colleagues no matter how much that one person bothers you.  A patient’s health shouldn’t be at risk because you don’t like talk to that doctor or nurse or whatever.

One short term goal for this semester is to be able to get good grades in all of my classes this semester.  One long term goal I have for the next 4 years is to be able to manage my time with football and school.  Another, is to be able to graduate in 4 years and then be accepted into PT school.

English 110 has helped me better this piece of writing from my IHS class.  The first way it has me is by me reading out loud all of my writing pieces.  Before English 110 I never really thought about reading aloud all my work to make sure that every sounded correct but now I believe it is one of the most important steps that I take in writing my papers for other classes.  Reading out loud also allows you to make any corrections that you may need to make.  It doesn’t just have to be to make sure that it sounds good, it also allows you to make sure you didn’t miss any words when you are writing.  I know when I write and I would bet that a lot of people have this problem but, I skip over some words when I am typing so fast.  And if I don’t read it over the sentence won’t be correct.  That is the main this that I credit English 110 for helping me with.  Another thing I credit English 110 with is with peer review.  When I was in high school I never liked to do peer review and I thought it was one of the dumbest things that we ever had to do.  But, now I realize that in comes in useful when you are in the revision stage of writing your paper.  In English 110 we did peer review with every paper that we wrote. And now that I realized that it is useful, I did it with the paper above that was written for my IHS class. For this paper I wrote out a rough draft and I started to revise it before I handed it in.  I decided that I was going to see if my roommate would look it over and make sure that it would get me a 100.  He made some corrections to it and I was able to hand it in.  I ended up getting a 100 on the paper, so having my roommate check it over was a big help in getting me that 100.  One last thing that English 110 has helped me with was on how to strengthen my word choice.  When you have strong words in a paper it makes it sound a lot better than if you were to use just basic words.  In English 110 I have used a thesaurus more than I have ever used it in my entire life.  English 110 has helped me strengthen all aspects of my writing and I will be using all these skills that I have learned in here with every paper that I will write in the future.
